Why some cities are ditching their Flock license plate readers

NPR counted at least 30 localities that deactivated Flock cameras or canceled contracts since the start of 2025, including Flagstaff, Cambridge, Eugene, Santa Cruz, and Hillsborough, N.C. A main driver: data could be reached for immigration enforcement even without a Flock–ICE contract.
